Like so many parents of school children, you might be worried that your child has fallen behind in math because of all the disruptions from Covid. The natural thought is to find a private tutor to help recover this learning lost.

But what should you look for in a private tutor? And how do you know you’re getting real value for money?

The key thing to remember is that every child is different and requires a tailored approach to learning.

It’s important to identify your child’s specific knowledge gaps and prepare a learning plan tailored to their specific needs.

It can be daunting, for both the parent and the child, to look at the entire maths syllabus in one go. So the tutor needs to set clear achievable learning goals and motivate your child to reach them.

You need to be able to measure your child’s progress in easy to understand but detailed reports, delivered in a timely and consistent manner.

The tutor also needs to be flexible and work to your’s and your child’s schedule.

And, finally, they need to make learning fun for your child. If they are looking forward to learning rather than bored or stressed out, learning gains will be that much easier to achieve.

A daunting task? It can be, which is why it’s always worth considering whether a human or virtual tutor is best. You can read all about the benefits of virtual tutoring here.

Why choose us?

Math-Whizz in particular has been designed with all of the above in mind. And you don’t have to worry whether your child can build a rapport with a virtual tutor, as Math-Whizz gives children the chance to create their own avatars and chat to Whizzy.

In the end, it’s about what works for your child, so why not take the seven day free trial and see if virtual tutoring is the right thing for your family.

It’s a difficult time for us all with home working and worries about learning loss but knowing you have done your best for your child is both reassuring and rewarding.
